I came across this photo and remembered that I had brought this dress with me to NY, when I moved to the U.S from Guyana. I went to Brooklyn and searched through my storage boxes and suitcase and found it along with 3 other dresses I designed and had made. I even had one of them made by my sister when she got a sewing machine. I would draft up my designs, buy my fabric and go over to my seamstress and explain the design. I waited about 2-3 weeks and my final piece would be done and ready for fitting.
I was about almost 17 when this photo was taken, it was New Year's day and the first time I was allowed to go out by myself (with friends) on a New Year's morning after I went to church of course. I used to design most of my special event clothes and have them made back home, I just wish I had more patience for sewing clothing, since I come up with so many designs.
I also went through my photos and found these that I designed as well. Enjoy another one of my Crafty Habits!
The lilac one below was sewn by my sister. I have it with me, but its in Brooklyn. Can you tell I was on a lace high :) These pictures are pictures of pictures so please forgive the quality, also I thought I rotated them but...
